What would be your perfect date?
I immediately think of that Miss Congeniality scene where Miss Rhode Island innocently answers “I would have to say April 25th, it’s not too hot but not too cold. All you need a light jacket.” haha
I felt like her when I was asked a similar question recently. The question was “Describe your perfect day…” I didn’t know which direction to go in?! Is this my perfect day in a dream scenario or in real life? Since the question came from Lara Casey’s Power Sheets, I went with reality.
The Making Things Happen – Power Sheets have seriously been life changing for me! I don’t say that lightly. With a lot of hard work on my end, they have been the road map to making a BIG change in my life. In short, the Power Sheets will help you identify big picture goals, break them into smaller tasks while also keeping you accountable along the way.

My Perfect Day goes something like this…
I wake up early and take my dogs on a long walk outside while I say a few prayers and count my blessings. Come back home throw on some yoga clothes and spend an hour in a hot yoga class. Afterwards, I would stop by a local coffee shop to get a yummy cup of chai tea and check my emails. Once I’m all caught up on emails I would head home to freshen-up and get ready for either a photo shoot or client meeting. After I’ve kicked butt and made my client’s day unforgettable, I would meet-up with a friend for a spur of the moment happy hour. Next I would come home to cook dinner for myself and my man. Together we would finish the day by taking the dogs on a long walk while we chat about our day. I might check my emails one last time and then unplug from all electronics by 9pm.
The End.
I feel silly even listing posting this. Why would you care about my perfect day?! haha
Well I say this all to get YOU thinking. What does your perfect day look like? One that you could do over and over again. It needs balance – not too much work but not too much play. Yes, of course it can change. I’m sure a year from now my perfect day will look a little different, but for now THAT day is my goal.

I wrote what my perfect day would be back in January of 2014, when I was working a full time job that required me to sit at a desk and live in Excel spreadsheets for eight hours a day! (Not my cup of tea!) Three months later it is March 2014 and I’m finally in a place where I have a chance to make that perfect day a reality!!! Aka – I quit my full time job, got a fun part time job and can now focus more of my time and energy on Lighthouse Boudoir! HOLY COW that is huge people!
Here we are in April and I feel like the waves have finally settled and I’m easing into a new routine. It’s been a bit of a struggle learning how to be my own boss, but looking back to My Perfect Day helps keep me focused!
Making the leap to quit my job was HUGE, it took a ton of prayers, faith and support from my family and friends. It also took putting pen to paper and working the Power Sheets like they were my life raft! I’ve waited this long to even talk about it publicly because I feel like I’m going to jinx it! haha
Step one to get to this point started over thirteen months ago. While a lot has happened in just the last three months, I look back on the last year and can’t believe I’m here. I will go into more detail about the transition later, but for now I just want to share the good news to get YOU thinking!

*Disclaimer: that Perfect Day doesn’t always happen. Things pop-up and life happens. However, now that I know what My Perfect Day would include, I’m happy if just a few of those things happen in reality. Tomorrow is another day and I can try again!

This doesn’t need to be your final answer. Write what comes to your head first, then build on it later.

Jenni Blaise - My perfect day wouldn’t involve work at all. Waking up late and having breakfast brought to bed. Then I would pack up and take a road trip to a nice vineyard, reading a good book as I get a nice bronze tan. Renting bikes downtown and strolling to an ice cream (froyo) place and seeing the city lights start to light up. End the day laying on grass watching the stars. Sounds pretty magical to me :)
